Born Anna Mary Robertson in Washington County, New York. Having never
had an art lesson, at age 76 she began painting simple, but realistic
scenes of rural life. She had her first one-woman show at age 80 and
painted 25 pictures in the year after her 100th birthday. Critics have
praised her work for its freshness, innocence, and humanity.
