A pioneer of contemporary art in America, won international attention for her work that captures the stark beauty of the Southwest. "Taos, New Mexico" was a favorite of Ms. O'Keeffe, as indicated by her personal "OK" inscribed on the back.

Born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; took residence in Abiquiu, New Mexico. The most distinguished woman in American art. Studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Art Students League in New York, the University of Virginia, and Columbia University. In 1962 she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
