N. Scott Momaday Navarre Scott Momaday is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author of fiction and a widely exhibited artist. He currently holds the post of Regents Professor of English at the University of Arizona. Momaday has written many books and is himself the subject of a book by Charles Woodard. He has illustrated four of his own books and two by other authors. Momaday holds honorary doctorates from eleven universities, including Yale. The son of Kiowa artist Alfred Morris Momaday and writer Natachee Scott, Momaday grew up on Navajo, Apache and Pueblo Indian reservations in the American Southwest. He received a BA from the University of New Mexico and an MA and Ph.D. from Stanford University.
